About Kicking the Bucket

After being motivated by The Financial Blogger who himself was motivated by Jeff Rose I decided to finally put an idea I had into writing and as of today the Money Infant Bucket List has been born!

In case you don’t know what a bucket list is, it is basically a list of things you want to do or accomplish before you “kick the bucket”. I’ve had ideas floating around in my brain for as long as I can remember and intended to write them down at some point, but never got around to it. Thanks to the proverbial kick in the pants from TFB and Jeff the Bucket List is now a reality.

Since I have plans to keep updating it on a regular basis I created it as a page rather than a post and you can stop back from time to time to see what (if anything) has changed. In addition, I would like to challenge all of you to create a bucket list and post it on your own blogs. Simply let me know in the comments where I can find your bucket list and I will ink back to it from my bucket list page. Of course a link back to the page on your own post would be appreciated too so we can share all of the bucket lists from across the blogosphere.

One question I have for you is this; as I look at other bucket lists I see many things that I’ve already accomplished, some a long time ago. Because it was so long ago I have no idea if, at the time, I would have considered them to be bucket list items or if they just happened to me in the course of my life. Do you think I should include these on my bucket list as crossed off items? What would you do?

I’m really looking forward to seeing a bunch of you take up the challenge. I think it will be fun and provide some great insights into everyone’s personality to see what things they hope and dream about accomplishing in their lifetime. So, there’s your assignment for the weekend. Get writing and create your own bucket list to share with the world.

You can find my Bucket List here.

Playa del Carmen is beautiful! I want to go to Fiji too!!! What am amazing looking bunch of islands. Frankly, my bucket list would mention that I’d be staying in a 5-star resort though and have my own private beach. :)

    • I don’t know that I’ve ever stayed in a 5 star resort, but I have stayed in the Oriental Hotel in Bangkok, Le Meridian in Phuket and the Four Seasons in Tokyo. If I ever have the money to do so I would love to take my wife to the Four Seasons Tokyo. Far and away the best hotel I have ever stayed at or seen!

Good luck on all your goals! I might do this. I will think about it. Right now, my daughter is so young, I’m still making goals like “sleep through the night…or at least for a 5-hour stretch.” :)

    • Yes I remember those days too. My daughter is only 21 months old so it wasn’t that long ago we were happy to get 3 hours sleep in a row. Hope you can find time to do it though, it really is a fun exercise!

Great stuff. I definitely need to put a list together. I’ve done #s 1, 3, 4, 10, and no comment re: 23. Nice list though. Kali tihi with #10 ;)

That’s a good idea. I should make a bucket list page too.
You have tons of travel goals, that’s pretty awesome.
I had a surfing lesson in Maui once and it was a lot of fun. Too cold to surf here.

    • Yeah way to cold to go in the water there isn’t it. I like to travel so many of my bucket list ideas revolve around travel. I would love to see your list Joe so please make sure to give me a shout when you post it.

I have a bunch of bucket stuff floating around in my head, we’ll see if it gets down in paper or not. It would be nice to have the list of goals, but also a bit daunting as there is definitely a lot I want to do and see. Nice idea here.

Oh, and I really like the idea of 3 months in Italy. :) Of course I don’t know many who wouldn’t.

Don’t know how I missed this post, but I already had my bucket list up on my site, a great movie by the way! LOL

I really need to work harder and crossing things out though! One that is on ours is traveling aross the US on horseback :)

    • Now there’s an original idea! I’ve never heard of anyone crossing the U.S. on horseback. Well not since the 19th century anyway :)

      • Poor to Rich a Day at a Time says:

Actually there is a long riders guild that is specifically for long distance horseback explorers I found. There is 2 men that I know of that have done it both alone. One was a retired police officer from Mid Michigan and One guy went from Oregon to North Carolina twice.

For us it will be a family affair, me being the only experienced rider though LOL hubby has only been on a horse once when I took him for his birthday one year. My kids had lessons but short lived when the 65 year old instructer broke his hip and decided to retire so I plan on having them do some lessons again before we do this.

In any case, if you google “people who crossed us on horseback” you will actually find quite a few stories!
